1. Our Lady Of La Vang
According to legend, the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary holding a child first appeared in 1798 when the persecution of Vietnamese Catholics began. She appeared on the grass near the old banyan tree where the people were praying and reciting the Rosary. Besides, many people have confirmed that their prayers and petitions were answered. A sacred shrine that attracted tourists all over the world.
2. Phu Cam Cathedral
In the 17th century, under the Nguyen lords, “Phu Cam” (府柑) was a palace, the residence of princes. It was torn down and rebuild on numerous occasions since 1682 until 1960 where the current Phu Cam Cathedral now stood. In front of the Phu Cam cathedral are two prominent statues, on the right is Peter, on the left is Paul. Especially, tourists are attracted to the rustic charm of Phu Cam Cathedral and its rich historical past.
3. Our Lady Of Tra Kieu
This church was built in 1722 at one location, and then transferred to its current site in 1865 and constructed according to l7th century European architecture. According to local belief, this church was the site of a miracle in 1885, witnessed by 80 people, a vision of a lady in white, believed to be Virgin Mary, appeared on top of the church. Nowadays, it is a popular pilgrimage site for both Vietnamese Catholicsand tourists.
4. Our Lady Of Perpetual Help In Hue
This places deserves to be one of the famous churches in Vietnam. In addition, this church is a very large church and has a unique structural design, both modern and ancient architecture with a distinct mixed of European, Asian and Vietnamese appearance. It is popular withyoung people to take pictures especially for their wedding photo shoots. Tourists are mesmerized with the unique architecture as well.
5. Cathedral Of Rooster
The candy-pink building was constructed in 1923 during the French Colonial period. The Rooster symbolizes the repentance and awakening as depicted in St Peter’s story in the Gospel. Additionally, the church was constructed in amazing Gothic-style architecture that won a medal by the Vatican Holy See. Tourists will be captivated and mesmerized by the gorgeous medieval stained-glass windows of various Saints embracing the delicate interior of the building. A replica of the Lourdes Grotto in France is placed behind the church.
6. Thien An Monastery
Founded by French missionaries in June 1940, Thien An (peace from heaven) Monastery is home to a community of priests, nuns, and seminarians who perform pastoral activities in three different churches. Besides, located on the highest hill of group of 140 hills overlapping in an area of about 60ha. Hence, tourists will get to experience the peace and gentle soul within in harmony with nature in abundance.
