The day began before dawn with a grand Marian procession from the statue of Our Lady to the Basilica altar. Pilgrims prayed the Rosary, sang hymns, and entrusted their petitions to the Blessed Mother, recalling her apparition at La Vang over 227 years ago, when she consoled Catholics in times of persecution.
The solemn Mass was presided over by Archbishop Joseph Dang Duc Ngan of Hue, joined by bishops, clergy, and nearly 300 priests from Vietnam and abroad. In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on Mary’s life of faith and obedience, calling her the “first fruits of salvation and a sign of eternal glory for the pilgrim Church.”
For Vietnamese Catholics, La Vang remains a sacred place where Mary chose to accompany her children throughout history. The Archbishop also announced that the 32nd National Marian Congress will be held at La Vang on August 13–15, 2026, a major event for the Catholic Church in Vietnam.
The pilgrimage concluded with a papal blessing, granting a plenary indulgence for the Jubilee Year 2025. Pilgrims returned home with renewed faith, carrying with them the peace of Christ and the maternal comfort of Mary, Our Lady of La Vang.
