Your private guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Da Nang in the morning and begin the pilgrimage journey south toward Phuoc Kieu, a small Catholic community in Quang Nam Province (approx. 30 km – 55 minutes from Da Nang).
Here, you will visit the Shrine of Blessed Andrew of Phu Yen, the first martyr of the Church in Vietnam, who was executed for the faith on 26 July 1644 in the historic Thanh Chiem Citadel area. The site is deeply connected to the early Jesuit mission in Vietnam, dating back to 1615, and is a meaningful stop for pilgrims who wish to honor the witness of Vietnam’s protomartyr.
After the visit, continue onward to Our Lady of Tra Kieu Shrine, located about 15 km – 25 minutes from Phuoc Kieu. Known as the “Holy Mountain of Vietnam,” Tra Kieu is one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in the country, where the Blessed Mother is believed to have miraculously protected local Catholics during the 1885 anti-Christian uprising. Here, you will have time for prayer, reflection, and walking the devotional paths that surround the hilltop statue of Our Lady.
After the visit, return to Da Nang for lunch at a local restaurant. The drive from Tra Kieu back to Da Nang takes approximately 45 km – 1 to 1.5 hours, passing through peaceful rural landscapes and small Catholic communities.
The pilgrimage continues in the afternoon with a visit to Da Nang Cathedral, the only Catholic cathedral in the city and a beloved landmark built by French missionaries in 1923, often referred to as the “Pink Church” for its unique façade. The final stop is Our Lady of Sao Bien Parish (Star of the Sea), a coastal church known for its simplicity, sea breeze setting, and active local Catholic community.
At the end of the day, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Da Nang, concluding a meaningful and enriching Catholic heritage journey.
